1st Survey - February 2012
How we decided what areas were included in the survey
We highlighted a number of possible areas with the PPG and Virtual PRG to go into the survey. These were discussed with the PPG in the meeting of the 7 December 2011. The areas agreed which would be included in the first survey as priority were:

Appointments

Staff
-
Extended Hours / Triage
Then we asked for comments form the Virtual PRG by email on the 16th February 2012.

How patient views were sought
529 questionnaires were completed by patients. The surveys were given out to patients in the reception areas at both sites. The completed surveys were either handed into the receptionists, or for confidentiality reasons put in trays on the reception desks.

Findings of the survey
The survey results were analyzed at the beginning of March 2012. The results of the survey were discussed in the PPG meeting on the 14th March 2012. The results of the survey showed that overall patients are happy with the service we provide, staff demeanour coming out especially well. There were however areas identified for improvement, these being:

Lack of patient knowledge of the existence of our website

Some patient's not knowing about our Extended Hours / Triage services

Some patient's finding it difficult to get though on the phone at busy times - 8.30 a.m to 9.30 a.m in the mornings and 1.30 p.m to 2.30 p.m in the afternoons

Patient's sometimes not being able to book an appointment on the same day

2nd Survey - November 2012

Findings of the survey
The survey results were analyzed at the beginning of December 2012. The results were discussed in the PPG meeting on the 12th December 2012. The results of the survey showed that overall patients were happy with our performance in the areas of the survey. Some areas however were identified for improvement, these being:
Patients in reception areas requiring more stimuli whilst sat waiting
Patients lack of knowledge of our confidentiality standards when patients are phoning into reception
Confidentiality for patients in reception, especially at the counter
Need for private area in reception for patients when needed
Car parking issues
Possible new build of the premises of the practice
